Welcome to Mrs. Young's calculus class blog! Each week, I will start a new post. Students, you can write questions for me or chat with each other about how to solve a particular problem. As part of your class participation grade each week, every student must comment at least once to my post or another student's comment. I look forward to spending this year with you. Enjoy!

2nd Semester
Welcome back and happy new year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas break spent with friends and family. We are about to start the 2nd half of calculus. Did you know that there are two branches to calculus? We have already studied the first branch, and we will study the second branch during the 2nd semester. We will talk about this during class on Monday. For this post, I would like you to discuss one thing that you learned while completing your homework worksheet over break about the AP exam.

AP Calculus AB exam is on May 9 and it starts at 8:00 in the morning. One thing I learned while completing worksheet was the format of AP exam. There are two sections and each has two parts, and some of questions required graphing calculator but some of them are not required. Also, the format didn’t changed from last year’s format.
ReplyDeletei knew something about the scores:5 point which is the full score represent the A plus while 4 is A minor or B plus. the exam is held on may 9th every year start at 8:00 am. and calculus BC is an extension of calculus AB tather thatn an enhancement. we just need to take AB.
ReplyDeleteI learned that there are few exam tips for calculus. One of them is it is better to write equation first if im using calculator. And the other is, do not let the points at the beginning keep you from getting the points at the end. I think these two are most important to me because i sometimes spend time too much on one problem and forget equations when i recheck the andswers.
ReplyDeleteI learned that the test is over 3 hours long! Also I learned the time that will be allotted for each section of the exam. I learned that if you cross out answers, then they won't be scored. That will help me out time wise!
ReplyDeleteBy doing this homework, I learned that there are many tips that will help me when I take the test. There were lots of them but I think that writing the equation is the most important tip that I would use it. Also, I figured out the when and how to take this test. This work sheep really did help me a lot and get to know about the test.
ReplyDeleteI think the most interesting thing this worksheet taught me is that you can input anything into your calculator to use on the test. Also it is helpful to know the breakdown.
ReplyDeleteI learned that on the AP exam you shouldn't let the first part of a question keep me from getting the last part of it. You may still be able to attain points. I also learned that instead of erasing wrong work just cross it out so you don't waste time.
ReplyDeleteBy doing this homework, I learned that AP Calculus is not going to be pretty. It seems like that solving so many questions within limited time may stress me out. This actually reminded me of SAT. I had to solve questions for four hours for the test. Additionally, I did not know who invented the Calculus. It is written in the website that Isaac Newton and Leibniz invented the Calculus.
