Welcome to Mrs. Young's calculus class blog! Each week, I will start a new post. Students, you can write questions for me or chat with each other about how to solve a particular problem. As part of your class participation grade each week, every student must comment at least once to my post or another student's comment. I look forward to spending this year with you. Enjoy!

September 3rd - 7th
I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! This week we are going to start chapter 2, which is about limits of functions, and we will begin to introduce derivatives at the end of the chapter. We are finally going to actually begin learning calculus! This week, I'd like you to tell me how you are feeling after chapter 1, which was our review of pre-calculus concepts that you should have learned last year. Are you ready to dive into calculus?

I feel the review of precalc was really helpful! It refreshed my memory and taught me somethings that I did not understand before. I'm ready for Calc!!
ReplyDeleteI think the review was actually helpful, and Chapter 1 I didn't think was too bad at all. Hopefully, I will be able to understand Chapter 2 and beyond without a lot of difficulty. So far, I am enjoying class, and I'm glad that I chose to stick in Calculus and I am ready for the rest of the year!
ReplyDeleteThe review of chapter one left me feeling a little empty. I know that I could have done better but I learned from the mistakes that I made and I feel as if I can correct those mistakes in future applications. I am ready to start learning new material and hopefully as we get taught, it will start to click in my brain.
ReplyDeleteAfter I learned Chapter 1, it remind me that forgot a lot of precalculus. So reviewing the math was really helped me to rememver what I learned in precalculus. And.... Yes, I am ready to dive into calculus:)
ReplyDeleteI think that I remembered a lot of the things in the review chapter, but it was nice to go over them again. It is always easier to head into something knowing that you have the basics under your belt. For me, reviewing the unit circle was most helpful. However, after having just tried to start my homework, I'm a little worried that the concepts in calculus will be harder for me to grasp the first time around.
ReplyDeleteI am happy that we "reviewed" pre-calculus with chapter 1. It helped remember some things but mainly it tought me new things. I can't wait to start actually calculus!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that we reviewed chapter 1 material. I have started to pick up on things and I learned a lot that I missed last year. I am excited for the start of calculus.
ReplyDeleteI am very excited after going through Chapter 1. I feel like I understood everything we talked about. Last year I felt confused a lot. I am looking forward to calculus.
ReplyDeleteI think i forgot a lot of pre-calculus math but after chapter 1 it reminded me and hepled a lot for starting calculus. and I kind of worry about calculus but I will try study hard.
ReplyDeleteAfter reviewing chapter 1, I am a little more confident, even though my test scores didn't reflect what I think I know. I am a little worried about starting calculus but as long as I study more and ask more questions when I don't understand, I think I will make it.
ReplyDeleteThe review helped me to relearn some of the basic concepts. I hope that I will not get behind as we start chapter 2 and will be able to build on these lessons all year!
ReplyDeleteChapter 1 was kind of difficult for me, trying to get back into things and trying to do Pre-Calc concepts that I didn't retain or even learn well. I was ready to what real Calculus was like though.
