Welcome to Mrs. Young's calculus class blog! Each week, I will start a new post. Students, you can write questions for me or chat with each other about how to solve a particular problem. As part of your class participation grade each week, every student must comment at least once to my post or another student's comment. I look forward to spending this year with you. Enjoy!

Week 2 of the 4th Quarter

Monday we will finish going over the practice AP free response questions about area and volume. You have been doing a pretty good job with them. These are basically the first full AP free response questions that you have been exposed to. The free response questions are hard to prepare for because it's hard to know what to expect. I also think that they are harder than the multiple choice questions. I'd like to know what your initial feelings are about the free response questions on the AP exam.

  1. The free response questions seem to be more difficult than the multiple choice questions. The ones we have tried or that I have seen seem to have confusing wording sometimes. But I think we will be well prepared for them after some more practice :)

  2. I am nervous for the free response questions because they seem confusing. But, I feel confident now with the area and volume questions, so hopefully after more practice with other questions I will be prepared to get as many points as possible!

  3. It is difficult to explain all the steps to solve the problems but i will be used to it. Through practice problems for free response questions, I feel more comfortable about it.

  4. In Florida we had to do at least three FRQs on every exam that we took so I was already aware of what it would be like. But because of that i know how hard they can be. After all of this practice i have become more comfortable with them and will hopefully get all 9 points on this one on the exam

  8. I was very nervous when I first tried to solve the free response questions, but after we went over a lot of problems, I think I am starting to get comfortable. I think I can get all nine points on the AP test.

  9. Usually I don’t practice for lot of tests, but as more I solve the problems, it gets harder than last time. So I realized I need A LOT more practice than now. I hope that I get 5 for AP test, but I will try my best.

  10. I have taken lots of math tests since elementary school. So, I am used to these math tests. However, I need to prepare for AP Calculus because there are a lot of hard concepts to cover and they tend to show up in free responses. Therefore, I need to spend a lot of time preparing.
