I was a bit disappointed with your blog posts last week. Five students did not even comment at all and I didn't really get the sense that everyone understands what net change or displacement is. You will need to know how to explain this for the chapter 7 test. Remember that displacement is the distance an object is from its starting point, which is what the value of an integral gives you. Displacement does not take into account how the object got there or where it started.
For this week, I'm going to give you writer's choice. You can comment about something important that you've learned this year, your favorite or least favorite part about calculus so far, or something you'd like to discuss about the class. I will leave it up to you and I'd like to see some dialogue between students. Feel free to comment about or react to what others have posted.
I'm doing good these days. i started to do volunteer work in a hospice in Jan. I got an old soldier in the Second World War. My tutor was worried about me since i looks just like japanese to the man's eye. He is still really enthusiastic about 'killing the Japs'. i was nervous the first time i saw him. but now, we really get along! we talked about the war and things about the world, about america and everything. last sunday, we talked for one and a half hours until the nurse want me out and help him having dinner. that was pretty amazing. he really enjoy talking with me! I will go visit again tomorrow right after school. hope he's doing good.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool Aiden!
DeleteSo far Calculus hasn't realy been as difficult as I thought it would be.. at least up to this point in the class. However, out of all the math classes I've taken I think Calculus has proved to be the most applicable in real life situations which actually gives me reason to learn it haha. But the other courses like algebra and geometry were vital too because without those skills i wouldn't be able to do basically all of the things we do in Calculus. I also like knowing how to do derivitives and integrals and oter calculus stuff because I can talk about it in front of my friends who don't take calculus and sound like a genius so that's always a plus.
ReplyDeleteNate, I feel the same way! Except I am actually a genius.... :P
DeleteI've learned a lot this year! I really love math, so I've enjoyed calculus! Also, I love test taking, so I don't think the AP Exam will be too bad, I hope!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you :) but i dont like test taking because i alway make mistakes with my quiz or test. Im worry about the AP exam because of this!
DeleteYou're such a nerd Alexa....
DeleteHaha...let's be nice to each other children...
DeleteAlexa, you're awesome :)
DeleteI think same way as what Nate said. It is not that difficult as i thought but im still confused with real life problems and problems with lots of words. It's hard to understand what they want me to answer and what part i have to use to figure out the answer. Nevertheless, im having lots of fun with class and im learning many things this year.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both Caroline and Nate. Going in to this year, I was really nervous about Calculus because I heard it was really hard. But, I have been proven wrong...I have understood basically everything (thanks to a great teacher!) :) I am also enjoying the real life problems that show me how to use Calculus in every day life, which is totally useful. I feel smart and I like it.
ReplyDeleteLearning AP Calculus is more like climbing a mountain. It is confusing which method you need to do to solve it. But after you actually done with the problems and got right, it feels so great and smart. The test is my least favorite part. It always makes me nervous, and looking at the stupid mistakes that I have been made feels awful. So I need to be calm and focus on problems that I am doing.
ReplyDeleteMath was alway the hardest subject in school and I always hated math class. At first, calculus was too hard for me to learn and I really wanted to quit. But I think I am doing quite well so far and I am learning lots of things. I am not very confident about AP calculus exam but I really want to get high score. I think learning calculus allow me to learn much about math.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty nervous about taking Calculus at the beginning of this year but i have actually really enjoyed it because i understand it! I'm still a little nervous for the AP exam because i don't want to confuse anything! But overall i think that we'll all do well:)
ReplyDeleteI am actually really excited to see how well i do on this AP test, but I am not happy at all about the fact that the test lasts for four hours.
ReplyDeleteI see we have a calculus "wannabe" commenting on my blog...haha
ReplyDeleteJK - I know that was Christian :)
ReplyDeleteSo far I have learned alot!! At my school in Florida the class was set up alot differently and i had a hard time learning. But since ive been back i have understood all of the lessons. Im not sure that i will use any of this in the future but it is good to know how to do and i am enjoying the class.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to take the AP Calculus test. My parents are excited on me taking the exam because my father is math teacher, so he expects me to get good grades. I will prepare a lot to get 5 on this test. I enjoyed this class so much this year.
ReplyDeleteDifinite integrak, I think there has a little symbols of it that looks cool, and the homework just as if scenerary picturesque , so I love integral !
