Welcome to Mrs. Young's calculus class blog! Each week, I will start a new post. Students, you can write questions for me or chat with each other about how to solve a particular problem. As part of your class participation grade each week, every student must comment at least once to my post or another student's comment. I look forward to spending this year with you. Enjoy!

Week 4!
We are finally going to finish up chapter 3 this week with sections 3.8, derivatives of inverse trig functions, and 3.9, derivatives of exponential and logarithmic functions. It has been a long chapter! Get ready for a test on Friday! For this week, watch the video clip from the movie, "Stand and Deliver," to the right. This is a classic movie about calculus that is based on a true story. We may be able to watch this movie after you take the AP exam in May. The video clip shows all of the things that the teacher, "Kemo," expects the students to do in order to prepare for the AP exam. (Just be glad I'm not making you do all of that!) Describe what you think it takes and what you are committed to do in order to be successful on the AP exam in May. It should start now! :)

I think that being successful on the AP Calculus exam takes a lot more work than people expect. It is more than just doing well in the class itself, you have to put in the extra time outside of school which helps you understand it more too. I am committed to putting in this time outside of school and memorizing all the formulas I need to know so I am able to be successful.
ReplyDeleteI think being successful on the AP exam takes extra effort, like Anna said :) There are a lot more formulas than in Pre-Calculus, and you have to have all of these memorized. I think it takes dedication so that you understand even the most difficult concepts. I am committed to doing all the extra effort that comes with an AP class, with hopes to get college credit for it!
ReplyDeletewell. i'm having a hard time with the words in those questions.i'm trying to remember them all. and, of course, do a lot of practice. so that i will be familiar with the questions. i found that it seems that it doesn't work to write the words down and recite them day after day. practicing is a better way.i really need a good grade in AP cal. i'll try my best.
ReplyDeleteI think being successful on the AP exam requires constant work and reviewing. On the AP exam, a student must know all the formulas and must know how to apply these formulas into a question. This skill doesn't come from 1 day study but from constant work of memorizing and practicing. I am committed to study periodically and not give up in the middle of progress.
ReplyDeleteTo be successful on the AP Calculus exam, extra works, sufficient reviewing and practicing problems. Being in a AP Calculus is more than normal classes, you have to actually think to solve the problems and spend extra time to memorize formulas. I am committed to put extra effort and to practice it consistently. So I can get college credits!
ReplyDeleteTo get high score on the AP Calculus exam, I think we have to do well on the class. Pay attention in the class is one of the most important element that we can be successful on the test. Also, I think we have to believe Mrs.Young so she can help us whenever we need her. The most thing is that we have practice more outside of school.
ReplyDeleteI think to be successful on the AP exam takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Calculus isn't a class you can just slide by doing as little as possible. You've got to sit down and study the many formulas and not just memorize them but also understand what they mean in the context of the question. I want to get college credit so I am willing to put in the extra time needed to ensure that hopefully I do:)
ReplyDeleteI think to be successful on this test, I must really study hard. AP tests just don't come easy, they are a lot of hard work and practice. In order to really get it I am going to do work outside of class, and take many practice tests.
ReplyDeleteAs I think to be successful is altitude and hang on,keep going, face any problems bravely! As well as understand every step of every formula and combine graph ,formula to solve questions, at last is do more practice , pray it, eventually success easily !
